The First Christmas Card Resulted From Having Too Many Friends
Henry Cole, the Victoria and Albert Museum founder, designed the first Christmas card in 1843. The postal delivery methods in London were relatively inexpensive and efficient at that time, which resulted in Cole receiving numerous holiday wishes from friends. Because ignoring the friends and colleagues was considered impolite, he decided to create a card with an illustration, then printed 1000 of them. He only needed to fill his name and send out the cards. He sold the cards he had remained with, which put the first Christmas greetings cards into circulation.
The Hall Brothers Invented the Folded Christmas Greeting Cards
Holiday greeting cards remained in the postcard type up to the early 20th century. The Hall brothers, who founded Hallmark, began to issue folded greeting cards, which were stuffed into envelopes.
